Fr. Alexandros Kantarakias
Dear Ladies and Gentlemen, brothers and sisters in Christ, and fellow Parishioners of Saint John the Baptist of Cairns Community,
It is with great joy and humility that I stand before you today as your new Parish Priest. My name is Father Alexandros Kantarakias, and I hail from the beautiful island of Skiathos in Greece. I have been blessed to serve as a clergyman for over 25 years, and I am honoured to now be a part of this wonderful community.
Before coming to Cairns, I served in various parishes in Greece, South Australia, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. As your new Parish Priest, it is my goal to serve you with honesty and integrity, and to be a source of support and guidance for all members of our community.

I want to take some time to get to know each and every one of you, to understand your needs and aspirations, and to work together towards building a strong and vibrant Orthodox community here in Cairns. Please do not hesitate to approach me with any questions, concerns, or suggestions you may have.
In the spirit of community building, I ask that you kindly write down your name, place of origin from Greece, phone number, email address, and your profession on a piece of paper when you come to church next Sunday. This will help us to get to know each other better and to stay connected as a community.
I am excited to be a part of this amazing new place and to have the opportunity to serve alongside you all in the name of Christ. Together, let us work towards fostering a spirit of love, unity, and harmony within our community. May God bless our collaboration and guide us with His divine grace.
Thank you for your warm welcome, and I look forward to getting to know each and every one of you.
God bless you all, and the blessings of our beloved Archbishop Makarios of Australia be with us always.
